BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Carlos Gu deletes Instagram post after accidentally 'spoiling' the results

BBC's Strictly Come Dancing contestant Carlos Gu deleted an Instagram post after he accidentally revealed the results from last week before it aired. The dancer had a great week in the ballroom on Saturday night when he and his partner CBBC host Molly Rainford were praised and given high scores for their waltz.

The scores they received saw the couple placed high up on the leaderboard which gave them a strong chance of staying in the competition. The results normally air on a Sunday evening on BBC One.

It’s a well-known fact that it is actually recorded in the hours that follow the live show on a Saturday, hence viewers only have a limited window of time to get their votes in following all of the performance reports Coventry Live.

This has been a bone of contention for many viewers for a number of years, while others wait up late on Saturday night, full of anticipation for the spoiler to land on Twitter. Those who played the waiting game this week were left shocked and upset at reading the spoiler, with both the identity of the bottom two couples and the one who went home sparking outrage.

The result is never officially broadcast until the end of Sunday’s results show, meaning those who want to find out early have to know where to find it on Twitter. However, Carlos revealed who went home in an Instagram post he made on Sunday. Avid Strictly fans who follow all of the pros’ social media accounts were quick to clock the reveal, which came by way of a caption Carlos wrote

It didn’t take too long for the Instagram post to disappear but, by that point, it had already caused a stir on Twitter. Warning fellow fans not to look, an account called Strictly Updates posted: “If you haven't already. DO NOT look at the caption on Carlos's Instagram post SPOILER on who went this weekend.”

One viewer who also saw the post tweeted: “Carlos leaking the Strictly spoiler has the same energy of literally every 2019 contestant leaking it every week,” promoting another Twitter user to respond: “He did what?!”
