BBC Strictly Come Dancing changes confirmed for week 5 with nod to Line of Duty

This weekend we are down to 12 couples for the BBC's iconic dance show, Strictly Come Dancing. Programme producers say week five "promises to be an unforgettable night of celebration and dance".

Week four said goodbye to Bros star Matt Goss and professional dance partner Nadiya Bychkova after the couple found themselves in the bottom two alongside former soap star Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima. In an emotional farewell head judge Shirley Ballas, said that while she felt "both couples were 100% committed" she declare that "the couple with a little bit more technical skill was Kym and Graziano and that’s who I’d save."

As the stars re-group for the next battle on the dancefloor, fans of the series should get ready for some show 'firsts' as well as some favourites this week. There is even a nod to a show that Nottingham police drama lovers adore.

This week's show will open with a group number and the Beeb says that the opening dance will have Strictly professionals as well as judges "gate crashing some of the biggest BBC flagship shows". In a change to the theme, the popular dance competition, will, for the first time ever, play out to either an iconic BBC theme tune or dance in tribute to one of the BBC’s most loved services.

That opens the door to a theme tune to one of the BBC's biggest hit shows - Line of Duty - the show that stars Nottingham-born actor Vicky McClure as DI Kate Fleming. Will Mellor and Nancy Xu will dance a Viennese Waltz to the show's end title music. Will played PC Rod Kennedy in the third season of the show back in 2016.
