2022 has been a massive year for sport, and the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards will celebrate individuals and teams for their contribution to our entertainment.
Two categories have already been named, with Lionel Messi being crowned World Sports Star of the Year after guiding Argentina to World Cup glory on Sunday. Usain Bolt has been handed the Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to athletics.
From the Winter Olympics and three Rugby League World Cups to the Commonwealth Games, there has been a feast of sporting action on display in the past 12 months.

Here's the low down on the 69th edition of the awards.
What time is BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2022 on?
The event will begin at 6.45pm and will take place at Media City UK in Salford on Wednesday, December 21. It is the first time in three years that there will be a live studio audience in attendance.
How can I watch Sports Personality of the Year?
The event will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app from 6.45pm. The presenters for this year's edition are Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan, Alex Scott and Clare Balding.
The BBC Sport website will provide live text commentary from 5pm, and the main award will be presented just shy of 9pm.

The nominees were announced on Tuesday, December 20, and involve athletes from a range of sports.

Who won BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2021?
Young tennis star Emma Raducanu won the main award in 2021 after she ended a 44-year wait for a British women's Grand Slam singles champion with glory at the US Open.
In 2020 it was Lewis Hamilton, and Ben Stokes picked it up in 2019.
