BBC Scotland's Home of the Year takes a trip to the Isles - see inside the homes

The third episode of BBC series Scotland's Home of the Year is primed to drop on Monday night (April 18), and this time it's a trip to the Northern Isles to see some stunning properties.

The next episode, airing on Monday night, will again feature three different homes each in a different area of Orkney and Shetland, where one will be crowned the winner of the instalment.

Starting off on the Shetland Isles, they take a look South Punds - a recently built bungalow south of Lerwick, home to Caroline and John, their sons Lewis and Harry, Harry’s girlfriend Lauren and their two sausage dogs, Piper and Poppy.

Builder John has built four houses for the family over the years with South Punds being his most recently construction.

The family home has a large open plan kitchen diner come living space, two bathrooms and three bedrooms including a master with walk-in wardrobe and en suite.

Outside, to make the most of Shetland’s colourful climate, South Punds has a patio area with summer house and a unique hot tub polytunnel – perfect for all weathers.

Next, the judges head to Kirkwall in Orkney to visit The Pastel House, a quirky Victorian townhouse renovation. Homeowners Jay and Rob relocated to Orkney from London four years ago along with their dogs Margo and Ely and cat, Royal Tenenbaum.

Spread over three levels, The Pastel House is awash with vibrant shades including gold leafed stairs and distinctive pastel palettes in every room.

Lastly, the judges visit Cullivoe New House - a croft house renovation on the north east coast of Yell in the Shetland Isles.

Dating from around 1860, Cullivoe New House has been home to Shona and her husband Allen for the past 11 years having been in Shona’s family for four generations.

Originally a but ‘n’ ben owned by Shona’s great grandparents, the property was going to be a holiday home but, during the renovations, the couple decided to relocate from London and set up home in Yell.

Anna, Michael and Kate must score South Punds, The Pastel House and Cullivoe New House on three crucial criteria - architectural merit, distinctive design and original style – as they compete for a place in the grand final.

Scotland's Home of the Year resumes on Monday, April 18 at 8:30pm on BBC One and BBC Scotland.
