After Waterloo Road finished in 2015 the school-based drama was brought back in January 2023, for its 11th series, and is now airing its 12th series. Featuring old characters from the previous series and new cast members the show is back on BBC One.
Known for its hard-hitting storylines and relatable characters, the show reflects a modern society with its portrayal of issues including the cost of living crisis, teen homelessness, racism, sexism, being LGBTQ+, mental health, and everything else facing young teens today. But amongst the chaos, the students, faculty and parents still make time for friendships, fun, and a few romances.

How to watch Waterloo Road series 12, airdate and how many episodes?
Waterloo Road series 12 will begin on Tuesday, May 16 at 8pm on BBC One. There will be seven episodes in series 12 and all episodes will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
Waterloo Road will next air on Tuesday, May 23 at 8pm on BBC One.

Waterloo Road series 12 filming locations
Waterloo Road was filmed in Manchester, Salford and Greater Manchester. The series has returned to Manchester after filming for the previous series took place in Scotland.
The show returned to help ‘boost drama production skills’ in northern England, as the show will be set and filmed in Greater Manchester.
