BBC's The Control Room continues tonight as stakes are heightened for Gabe

As fans were left divided over the first instalment of brand new BBC drama The Control Room, expectations are heightened for the second episode, which airs on Monday, July 18.

Gabe, played by Iain De Caestecker, has landed himself in a whole heap of bother, as a familiar face from his past begs him to hide a body after receiving a worrying emergency call at work. He embarks on a journey that takes him directly into the eyes of police as he moves the vehicle carrying the body, only to be hit by a drunk driver just before he is home free.

After a tense police chase, Gabe manages to hide the van somewhere off-road, and evades the questions from his boss DI Breck, played by Sharon Rooney. Just when Gabe believes he is safe, fellow call handler Anthony answers his phone call from the murder suspect Sam (Joanna Vanderham), and he thinks it is all over.

But Anthony gives Gabe an ultimatum - either he tells the police the truth, or Gabe is forced to help his friend, who also seems to be in a spot of trouble with the law. And that's where the episode ends, leaving us in suspense for the next part.

Thankfully, episode two is tonight, Monday July 18, and the synopsis for the programme reads: "Gabe is blackmailed into further criminal behaviour by Anthony. In order to escape the nightmare of the present, Gabe has to confront his past."

So, it seems that poor, nervous Gabe is taking the flack for all of his friends, past and present, in order to make all of his own past mistakes right. Bit unfair, don't you think?

Episode two of The Control Room airs on Monday, July 18 at 9pm on BBC One. The entire series is available to watch on BBC iPlayer as of right now.
