BBC's The Apprentice in North Wales tonight with Zip World and Penrhyn Castle in the tourism special

The Apprentice will feature North Wales tonight - providing a timely boost for the tourism sector.

The hit BBC show will see candidates taken out of London and challenged to set up bespoke tours for visitors to the region.

Businessman Alan Sugar last week told the remaining 10 entrepreneurs to pack their bags as he was: "sending you to North Wales."

He told them the UK staycation market had boomed since the pandemic started and tourism was the "fastest growing industry in Britain".

The tough-talking entrepreneur told the group they had to set up and run a bespoke tour - warning them that unhappy clients can ask for their money back.

The short clip previewing the episode featured the zip lines of adventure giant Zip World - which has zip sites in Blaenau Ffestiniog and Bethesda.

There was also a glimpse of the candidates arriving at the grand Penrhyn Castle - a National Trust property outside Bangor. It was built for the Pennant family, who got rich on slave worked sugar plantations, and slate quarries

Candidates are also seen running a tour on the famous Welsh Highland Railway in Gwynedd.

It will be another boost to the tourism sector in the region - showcasing the area to millions of BBC viewers.

This comes as bookings already surge for many operators - with Haven last week saying it was seeing double digit percentage growth on last year for its Hafan y Mor park near Pwllheli.
