BBC's Graham Norton issues Eurovision 'trigger' warning over Finland performance

Graham Norton sent a warning to frightened Eurovision viewers ahead of Finland's performance as he commentated the show on Saturday night.

After last year's dismal outcome, which saw UK entry James Newman finished at the foot of the leaderboard, with absolutely nothing from either the juries or the televote. Ahead of this year's Eurovision Song Contest there was definitely a lot more optimism from the United Kingdom camp, which started as soon as Sam was announced as this year's representative back in March.

But before Sam took to the stage to perform Space Man, in 22nd spot on the Eurovision final running order, there were plenty of other acts who took their turn in the spotlight and one of the earliest to make their bid to win was The Rasmus. The group are well known in the UK for their early 00s smash hit In The Shadows and earned their spot in the final after making it through the second semi final, having opened the heat on Thursday night.

The Rasmus were the only out and out rock act in the contest, with BBC host Graham predicting that would serve them well when it came to sticking in viewers' heads and getting good scores. But, while he wasn't right on that score, he had some more strong words about their performance, before it had even started.

And was all down to a certain horror film, involving a clown and a balloon. As a introductory postcard montage played on screen, talk show presenter Graham remarked: "If you watch the film IT and it frighten you a lot I should warn you the beginning of this performance may prove a bit of a trigger."

Viewers at home agreed with Graham, with one tweeting: "So now we know what happened to the Rasmus, they were too busy appearing in IT."
