The team behind hit BBC show DIY SOS have issued a final rallying call for volunteers, as the Big Build heads to Tyneside later this week, with several stars from Strictly Come Dancing taking part in the project.
Long-running series DIY SOS was relaunched as The Big Build in 2010, with presenter Nick Knowles and his team working on life changing large scale challenges throughout the UK, including some special schemes for Children in Need. And this week, Strictly stars led by popular judge Anton du Beke, will descend on Wallsend to transform a derelict building for the True Colours Theatre. The charity is an inclusive theatre school for children and young people in the North East of England, many of whom have additional needs such as autism, ADHD, anxiety disorders, physical and life limiting conditions and various mental health issues.
Strictly pros like Graziano Di Prima, Katya Jones, Luba Mushtuk and Nancy Xu, are all expected to be on site at various points across this week, before Anton is involved with the big reveal at the weekend.

As the team get ready to start the transformation, they are still missing some key materials, as well as tradespeople to put in some hours to help make their dream a reality. With just days to go, DIY SOS are still in need of building and electrical supplies and timber along with expert trades including decorators, floor fitters, joiners and painters.
Anyone wishing to volunteer their time or donate some materials can email: DIYSOSWALLSEND@BBC.CO.UK to get in touch with the show.
A spokesperson for the programme told ChronicleLive: "We’re keen to make this a huge success & the volunteers are always at the heart of every DIY SOS project."
