BBC release Edinburgh dates for free Breaking the News show with Des Clarke

Multi award-winning comedy show Breaking the News will be performed in front of a live Edinburgh audience this month, with free tickets up for grabs.

Hosted by comedian Des Clarke, Breaking the News invites a mix of the UK’s top comedians, journalists and up-and-coming stand-up talent to take a satirical swipe at the week’s news in Scotland and around the world.

And you can apply for free tickets on the BBC Scotland website, to be registered in a ballot on a first-come first-served basis.

The show will be visiting the capital on Thursday February 24, and Thursday March 24, at Summerhall in the Newington area of Edinburgh.

In terms of accessibility, the main entrance to Summerhall has nine stone steps with no railing.

Step-free access is via the side entrance on Summerhall Square.

How do I sign up for tickets?

Tickets for this show are being allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so when the organisers receive your ticket request, your details are added to the list of applicants.

Tickets are usually dispatched from approximately three weeks ahead of the recording date.

How will I know if I have been successful in the ballot?

All eligible requests are allocated tickets in the order they are received, up to the maximum number of available tickets.

If successful, you will be notified by text message and your e-ticket(s) will be sent to your email address.

If unsuccessful, you will be kept on the waiting list in case anyone cancels their tickets.

What do I need to bring to the show?

Please ensure you follow any specific instructions you have been given about additional Covid measures and face coverings.

Please do not attend the show if you begin to develop any of the symptoms of coronavirus or if you have come into close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.

Every guest must bring original approved photo ID, with the list of approved identification card here.

A negative COVID-19 LFT result (taken in the 24 hours prior to attending the Event) from a UK Government-approved test provider (either via a home kit or via a test centre), with certification shown via email or text.
