St George’s Bristol has been announced as the city’s first ever host of a BBC Proms concert. As part of the UK-wide centenary celebrations of the BBC this year, the venue will stage a concert in August from two of classical music’s biggest names.
Violinist Alina Ibragimova and pianist Cedric Tiberghien are BBC New Generation Artists and they will perform at St George’s Bristol on August 1. Tickets go on sale in May and there will be a limited number of discounted £6 ‘Promming’ tickets released online on the morning of the lunchtime concert.
St George’s Bristol has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the BBC and as early as 1975, the BBC was broadcasting its lunchtime concerts from St George’s Bristol’s auditorium. Most recently, across Spring 2022, BBC Radio 3 and BBC New Generation Artists returned for another special series of lunchtime concerts.

The 2022 BBC Proms marks the return of international artists, BBC centenary celebrations and more Proms than ever across the UK – with 84 concerts over 57 days between July 15 and September 10. For the first time ever the Proms is taking its successful chamber music series, established in 1996, across the UK, visiting all four nations.
A diverse range of world-class soloists and ensembles will perform a repertoire ranging from Haydn in Glasgow to Xenakis in Belfast. An array of top musicians will perform in venues in Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, London and Truro.

Every concert is broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and available on BBC Sounds, and 22 Proms are broadcast on BBC television and BBC iPlayer, including the First Night and Last Night of the Proms.
