A BBC journalist has shared a short but to-the-point vulgar note that was left on her car's windscreen. Rachel Burden tweeted an image of the note saying it was "Fairly non specific but I guess it covers all bases".
The edited image below shows a rather blunt message of "thanks "w****r", Manchester Evening News reports. The BBC Breakfast and Radio 5 Live presenter than tweeted a second message, giving her view of why she may have been given the rude note.
She said she was: "wondering if it has anything to do with the close proximity of my tiny crap car to an over-sized high-spec Tesla in a small car park space." The tweets prompted some well-meaning jokes from her followers.
One person replied: "Nice that a walker thanked you", and Rachel replies "I know - I’ve always felt under appreciated for my walking skills".
Other followers pointed out problems with the note with one joking: "I’d be more offended by the writing going against the grain of horizontal lines than the words themselves." Another added: "Comma missing in the middle there it seems".
Her co-presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live also joined in, joking that he was the one that left the note. He replied to the tweet saying "Quite pleased with my left-handed writing."
Others were critical of the "abusive" message on the BBC presenter's car, with one follower adding: "That’s deeply unpleasant. I had an abusive and threatening message left on my windscreen recently. I was just grateful I wasn’t them, ‘them’ presumably being quite an angry, unhappy person."
Rachel has a regular show on BBC Radio 5 Live in the breakfast slot, and has presented the show since 2011. She also regularly presents BBC Breakfast on the weekends.
