BBC Pointless contestants now 'banned' from wearing certain clothes on quiz show

Former contestants on BBC quiz show Pointless have shared their experiences when appearing on the show - including even having certain bans on clothing.

The quiz show, based around finding the most obscure answer to a question, has grown to become one of BBC's most popular game productions.

As the contestants filter in in pairs, each duo will take on general questions directed by hosts Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman, the Mirror reports.

In order to hit the jackpot, the winning pair will need to find a 'pointless' answer, i.e. an answer that nobody else has given yet.

Former contestant Bethan Thomas spoke in an interview about her experience on the show, and what it was like to find out about all the different rules.

31-year-old Bethan said: "I wear quite a lot of black or sequins and they were like, 'No you can't wear that, can't wear spots'.

"So I went for a floral number and my friend did too. When we were on, someone told us we looked like Kew Gardens."

Bethan also discussed the idea of 'TV make-up', which means that the product is much more heavily applied.

She also spoke about the group interviews, saying: "They made us play games - it felt like I was at a comedy improvisation thing, it was like they were trying to get us to be funny and I felt really under pressure.

"You could see a lot of people really trying to crack a few jokes and pull a few faces to get on."

And when meeting the hosts, Bethan was pleasantly surprised with their attitudes. She added: "You could see a lot of people really trying to crack a few jokes and pull a few faces to get on."

You can watch Pointless on BBC One every weekday at 5:15pm, and will resume on Friday, April 8.
