BBC planning celebrity version of The Traitors after show's success

It's a show that has caught the imagination many following it's successful debut on the BBC. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, The Traitors is set to return for a second series as the BBC has reportedly struck a deal with production company Studio Lambert to bring the game show back for another run next yea.

But now The Mirror reports that a celebrity version is also planned with famous fans are lining up to take part in a new edition of the murder mystery show. Reports suggest it could be a charity version in aid of Children in Need or Comic Relief.

An insider has said: “Everyone’s been thrilled with how much love there’s been for The Traitors and a celebrity version is a natural next step. Viewers will get to see different sides of some big names as they try to manipulate others or uncover the truth about fellow players.”

Claudia has reportedly already picked a panel for the all-star show, with her keen to see Victoria Coren, Kirsty Young, Adam Woodyatt, Stephen Fry and Alison Hammond take part

In the BBC1 show, which is set in a Scottish castle, had a high of 3.7 million viewers and 17 million views on iPlayer.

The format of the show sees people are split into two groups and faithfuls have to try and work out who are traitors. Players work together to build up a prize pot by completing challenges.

Competitors leave by being banished during a group vote or being “murdered” by traitors.

The cash is split among remaining faithfuls unless they fail to spot the last traitors who then win.

On Thursday, the first series was won by faithfuls Aaron Evans, Hannah Byczkowski and Meryl Williams who shared £100,000.
