In the last episode of Chloe, it became apparent that Chloe's marriage to Elliot was not as perfect as it seemed on social media. Chloe had grown to be scared of her husband, who was abusive and controlling, leaving her feeling hopeless and trapped.
Not only did Elliot lie to one of Chloe's closest friends, Livia, but he was capable of displaying abusive and threatening behaviour. This was evidenced by Becky's confrontation with him.
During her investigation into the death of Chloe, Becky discovered that she was due to start IVF with Elliot, but had been taking birth control behind his back to thwart any attempt of conceiving. Whilst trying to escape during one of Elliot's work events, Chloe accidentally left behind two items detrimental to her escape: the key to the static caravan she had acquired, and cash she had taken out in Elliot's name.
Without the funds to escape to the caravan, Chloe is forced to make a beeline for her parents' house, and asks them to not tell Elliot where she is. Unfortunately, her mother told Elliot where she was after a persuasive phone call from him. Chloe then hurriedly leaves her parents' house, causing her mother and Elliot to go out searching for her.
On a previous occasion, Becky had discovered pills hidden in Elliot's house, which suggested he was forcing his wife to take medication.
After initially claiming that she saw Chloe jump off a cliff as Elliot arrived, Chloe's mother then backtracked, telling Becky: "I don't know what I saw". It is not obvious whether her mother is telling the truth, although it is clear that, either way, Elliot played a crucial role in the death of his wife.
In the series finale, viewers also discovered that Becky had kept a letter from Chloe that was sent shortly after they became estranged. Becky had kept the letter safe in a box, which was filled with other photographs and memories.
Chloe apologised to Becky in the letter for excluding her after she moved schools and found new friends. She also disclosed in the letter Elliot's controlling behaviour, which, of course, comes as no surprise to the viewer.
From the finale, it is clear that Becky was haunted by the breakdown of her friendship with Chloe, who she had confided in about the death of her sister, Sasha, who died after drowning in the bath.
Despite the ending not providing a clear conclusion for the viewer regarding Chloe's death, a sense of catharsis is still felt as Becky is granted some peace after reading her friend's letter and facing her demons.
A number of Bristol locations were showcased in the series, from St George's to Bristol Beacon.
