BBC News introduced reporter Jessica Parker as Sarah Jessica Parker in awkward blunder

BBC News have suffered a funny blunder on live TV as they introduced their political correspondent as Sarah Jessica Parker .

Jessica Parker was the reporter on their programme Victoria Derbyshire, but it appears there had been a mix-up as the journalist was introduced as the American Sex and the City actress.

The journalist heard speaking in the background welcomed viewers with: "Well let's get the thoughts now of our political correspondent Sarah Jessica Parker."

It was a silly mistake for her to make as she got the reporter's name completely wrong, even though she was convincingly confident.

The totally awkward moment will have left viewers at home cringing at their screens due to the huge blunder.

But when the journalist went to ask Jessica a question, she managed to get it right the second time around.

Reporter Jessica didn't look too shocked but she did give off an awkward smirk.

Great British Bake Off contestant Scott Bryan tweeted the video to his followers, and one commented: "Omg I thought that was what I heard, had to do a double take."

The mistake comes just a few weeks after BBC viewers were a little shocked to see a foul-mouthed comment on their screens, after the London evening news shared a social media comment.

During one particular segment, an image of a female model in gym gear appeared on screen.

The pic was part of an  Instagram  post but it was the first comment about the pic that left the company looking rather red-faced.

One cheeky commenter had written: "I love to f*** your a**”.

It didn't go unnoticed and one viewer, 55-year-old Ashleigh Moss, told The Sun that she was shocked to see the lewd comment on the screen, especially as she was watching with her six-year-old granddaughter.

The warehouse supervisor from High Wycombe said about the faux pas: "I’m no prude, but I’m absolutely appalled by their standards."

The feature had been discussing online bullying, in light of Little Mix star Jesy Nelson admitting to feeling suicidal after being targeted by trolls.
