BBC Mood: What's it about, who's in it and when can I watch it?

New BBC Three drama Mood will explore how young women use social media in the modern world as they try to achieve their dreams.

Mood will be based on main character Sasha, played by Nicole Lecky who also wrote and created the series based on her play Superhoe, as she tries to become a singer. The series will be part told through songs.

Nicole has also written the soundtrack for the show, which will be directed by Dawn Shadforth and Stroma Cairns.

During the series, Sasha will have to navigate being kicked out of the family home, the dark and complex world of becoming a social media influencer, and online sex work and battling her past.

It's described as a "funny, dark and boldly original, a deeply resonant and powerfully affecting story for our times".

When can I watch Mood?

Mood will begin on BBC Three on Tuesday, March, 1 at 10.05pm as one of the first dramas on BBC Three since the channel's return to mainstream TV.

The six-part series will also be available on iPlayer from Tuesday, March, 1.

Nicole Lecky as Sasha

The show will follow lead character Sasha (BBC)

The writer and creator of Mood, Nicole Lecky, will play the lead character Sasha whose life the show will follow as she tries to reach her dream of becoming a singer and her experience in the modern world.

Previously Nicole has written for Ackley Bridge and EastEnders and she has starred in Death in Paradise and Doctors. You can read more about Nicole here.

Lara Peake as Carly

Helping Sasha to achieve her dream, by drawing her into the intense world of being a social media influencer, Carly who is played by Lara Peake, also has a destructive side.

Lara has starred alongside some famous Hollywood stars during her career, including Nicole Kidman in How To Talk To Girls at Parties and Pierce Brosnan in Final Score.

Jessica Hynes as Laura

In the role of Laura, who is Sasha's mother, is Jessica Hynes who said it's been "really fun" to play Laura.

Starring in both film and TV, Jessica has appeared in Midsomer Murders, Confetti, and Bridget Jones' Diary 2. She has also won two British Comedy Awards.

Paul Kaye as Kevin

Playing Sasha's stepfather Kevin is Paul Kaye and Sasha and Kevin have a tricky relationship as their personalities clash.

Starring in some big roles, Paul has been in Game of Thrones, After Life, and Good Omens. He is also a comedian and a writer and starred in the 2022 film The House.

Mia Jenkins as Megan

Megan is Sasha's little sister and she will be played by Mia Jenkins. Currently at school, Megan is just trying to fit and blend in.

Previously Mia has starred on Disney Channel in the musical drama The Lodge and the series Soy Luna. She has acted professionally since the age of four.

Mohamed Moses Damar as Saleem

This is Mohamed Moses Damar's first TV role (BBC)

Mohamed Moses Damar is playing Saleem, a "young, conflicted man" who is a drug dealer. He also suffers from mental health illnesses including depression and anxiety.

This is Mohamed's first role on TV and he spoke about what it was like to be on set. He said: "I was very nervous, but what I did is put all the nervousness, anxiety into the character and make sure he was vulnerable."

Jorden Myrie as Kobi

Brother of childhood friend to Sasha, Abi, is Kobi who is played by Jorden Myrie. Kobi and Sasha grew up together and have a strong relationship.

Previously Jorden has played Stephen Lawrence in the ITV drama Stephen and played Connor in Dancing in the Dark.

Jordan Duvigneau as Anton

Anton and Sasha have an on and off romantic relationship (BBC)

Anton is Sasha's on and off boyfriend and he is played by Jordan Duvigneau.

Recently Jordan has starred in My Mum Tracey Beaker and before this in Homeland.

Chantelle Alle as Abi

Abi is Sasha's childhood best friend who will be played by Chantelle Alle, and throughout the show Abi tries to fix their friendship.

Chantelle has starred in We Are Lady Parts and the ITV detective drama Vera.

Flo Wilson as Melrose

Little is known about Flo Wilson's character Melrose, as looks like she tries to help Sasha throughout the show.

Flo has been acting since 1995 and has starred in Waterloo Road, Hollyoaks, and Coronation Street.
