MasterChef host Gregg Wallace was the target of irate viewers who claimed it was "his fault" a contestant dropped her pan of sauce and burnt herself. The top seven home cooks from the first round of competition were back this week to test their skills in the kitchen and attempt to convince judges John Torode and Gregg that they have what it takes to win MasterChef in 2023.
The candidates had to take on two more tasks tonight (April 27) on BBC One that tested their ingenuity and culinary skills. Leyla Kazim, one of the nation's toughest food critics, established a brief for them to prepare a dish to, making it their most challenging test to date, with her asking for the cooks to serve something that emphasises sourness or bitterness.
After losing two chefs from that round, the contestants moved onto a second challenge with the prospect of losing another person. In the heat of the kitchen, contestant Linda could be seen cracking under the pressure - and things got worse when a pan filled with sauce fell to the ground.

The spillage happened during a conversation between herself and Gregg. He asked Linda: "Are you enjoying this competition?"
Linda responded: "Yeah, I'm loving it. I think its great."
Gregg then exclaimed: "Everyone else is stressed and your having the time of your life." Linda joked: "It's that wine over there!"
While the two were giggling, Linda raised her arm and accidentally hit the sauce pot's handle, sending it flying to the ground. Linda gasped and then said to Gregg: "That's your fault!"
She added: "Disaster happen, and I'm usually in it!"
The piping hot sauce burned her arm, so she quickly ran it under the cold water tap.
Fans took to Twitter to express there frustration at Gregg. Many claimed that Linda's spillage was his fault.
One fan said: "That was his fault! #Masterchef" A second added: "The Gregginator has engaged SAUCESPILL MODE #Masterchef #MasterChefUK"
A third said: "Linda’s puuure ragin’ #Masterchef."
However, it was not game over for Linda as a lot of the sauce remained in the pan. Gregg also admired her determination as later in the show he said: "I like the fact you battled on despite the fact of sending a pot of red hot sauce over your arm."
Despite the incident, John also fought for Linda's position and praised her, he said: "I thought Linda did a good job today with the arancini, and in adversity, because she knocked a pan of sauce over but she still made a really well made arancini."
She was able to perform well enough to stay in the running, and she and the four other remaining cooks were successful in securing a spot in the quarter final.
