BBC Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure viewers compare new show to 'rip off' of Clarkson's Farm

Former Emmerdale star and 2019 Strictly Come Dancing winner Kelvin Fletcher has taken on a new farming venture that is being broadcast on BBC but not all viewers were impressed with the latest show.

The first episode of Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure on Monday (January 17) night saw Kelvin, his wife Liz - who announced this week she is expecting twins - along with their two children move to a 120-acre farm in the Peak District.

The 38-year-old actor might have spent years acting as a farmer on ITV soap Emmerdale, but he quickly discovered that there was a lot to learn and called in neighbour and sheep farmer, Gilly, to show him the ropes.

Whilst some praised the couple for their bold move from Oldham in Greater Manchester to the countryside, many viewers said the show was "jumping on the bandwagon" and a "wish.com" alternative of Jeremy Clarkson's farming programme, Clarkson's Farm.

Clarkson's Farm was released on Amazon's Prime Video in June 2021 and gained huge popularity as it showed former Top Gear host Jeremy - with no previous farming experience - learn how to run his farm in Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds.

During Monday night's showing of Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure, viewers took to Twitter to share their views and draw comparisons between the two programmes.

"All the fuss about the quality of new @BBC programs & #KelvinsBigFarmingAdventure is basically a #clarksonsfarm ripoff (enjoyable tho)" Mark posted to Twitter.

Rob Goliah said: "When you buy Clarksons Farm on http://wish.com #clarksonsfarm #KelvinsBigFarmingAdventure"

Glenda posted: "For the city folk that haven’t seen Clarksons Farm, I guess they will enjoy this programme. At least it shows the hardships that many small farmers have to endure. #KelvinsBigFarmingAdventure"

"Oh dear. Talk about jumping on the @JeremyClarkson bandwagon. Why Oh why did @BBCOne commission this? We can’t help but compare and then surmise “what utter ****”. And why is it being narrated? #KelvinsBigFarmingAdventure" Haydn Schofield added.

Barry said: "#KelvinsBigFarmingAdventure What an original, imaginative Idea. This is why they pay the BBC Execs the big bucks. @JeremyClarkson"

Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure will continue next Monday (January 24) on BBC One from 8.30pm.
