BBC Happy Valley fans in uproar over penultimate episode ahead of show's end

Happy Valley fans were all left with the same complaint about the penultimate episode. The BBC cop drama will come to an end this Sunday (February 5) and it's come too soon for viewers, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

During last night's (February 30) episode, news of Tommy Lee Royce’s escape spread and put the Cawood family on high alert. The instalment left next week’s finale teed up for an explosive confrontation - and fans were soon left taking to social media to have their say.

Ahead of the opening credits, a BBC continuity announcer, said: "Lock the door, silence the phone, and nobody speak to me. I've been waiting all week. Now on BBC One, with strong language, and scenes which some viewers may find upsetting, the penultimate ever episode."

But even before the action had begun, fans of the critically-acclaimed cop series were unable to cope with it nearly being over. Taking to Twitter, one person penned: "Never have the words penultimate episode made me feel so sad about a show ending.

"If Catherine dies next week, we're all rioting." Echoing their comments, someone else said: "I'm so excited yet so sad as it's one step closer to the end."

Happy Valley is adored by viewers and critics alike, with series two attracting an average audience of 9.3million. The first two series each won the BAFTA Television awards for both Drama Series and Writing: Drama for Sally Wainwright. While Sarah won the BAFTA Television award for Leading Actress for series two.
