BBC Happy Valley fans 'crying laughing' at Tommy Lee Royce fundraiser

The content of Happy Valley might be very dark in places, but viewers still find moments to laugh during the tense crime drama. One particular tweet had fans 'crying laughing' as Tommy Lee Royce escaped from court on a bicycle, prompting Catherine Cawood to call him 'Bradley f***ing' Wiggins.

The penultimate show opened with the killer and rapist cycling up a hill in his red cycling outfit with the stunning Yorkshire Dales as a backdrop before being taken to the safe house by dodgy businessman Darius Knezevic.

One fan shared a mocked up fundraising page that had been 'organised by Tommy Lee Royce' for a sponsored cycle from 'Leeds Crown Court to safe house'.

Account @Cassiesmyth shared the 'fundraiser' that said: "On September 24th, I will be breaking out of court and taking on a mammoth cycle around Yorkshire. (Weather and police dependent). I've not done any training so I'm extremely nervous I I know with your support I can smash my goal and take some money for a worthwhile case. Your money will go towards a new haircut and weapons. I'm raising money for Justice for Fathers, a cause that has affected me and is close to my heart. This is for you Ryan."

And it showed that more than £2,000 had already been raised.

All the signs from episode five are that it is building up to a final showdown between Tommy Lee and Catherine, and with it being the final series some viewers are beginning to worry that Sarah Lancashire's lead won't make it to the retirement she has been counting down to.

The 'fundraiser' includes money for weapons, as Tommy has been looking for someone to get him a gun as he is hellbent on taking revenge on his son's grandmother.

Fans of the show loved the fundraiser. One said: ''Your money will go to a new haircut and WEAPONS'' I am screaming".

Another joked that Neil, who had been taking Ryan to see his father in prison, had pledged £50.

The bike ride scene prompted lots of hilarious tweets, including one that Tommy Lee Royce could be training for the Tour de France.
