BBC Future Food Star: The valleys chef hoping to win Gordon Ramsay’s investment in brand new TV show

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has a new show coming to BBC One, Future Food Star, where 12 of the UK's best up-and-coming food and drink entrepreneurs will compete to earn his £150,000 investment.

One of these budding entrepreneurs is Asher Flowers from the Rhondda Valley who specialises in making unique jams, chutneys, and marmalades.

The 28-year-old will appear on the show, which is set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in spring 2022, as he competes against mussel specialists and cocktail experts to win the investment.

Asher studied PR at university and was inspired to set up his own business after he watched his mum sell her homemade jams at local markets.

Keen to appeal to a younger audience in 2018 Asher set up his own business, Rouge, selling jams, marmalades and chutneys in unique and interesting flavours.

Taking his products to local food fairs and markets Asher was able to build up his business and his range now includes Negroni Marmalade, Espresso Martini Marmalade, Strawberry, and Tonka Bean Jam, Bravado Chilli Pepper Jam.

Rouge has its own website and Asher's products are sold all across the UK including in Little Man Coffee and Boxini in Cardiff. His products are vegan, free from major allergens, and all handmade.

The Rouge website says: "Rogue says it's time for an end to the conservative world of mass produced and boring foods. It's time for a bold new reality. We're here to speak up and share our perspective on how we're going to change the world we live in and the food we eat. We're a brand with substance and grit."

During the show Asher will face challenges set by Gordon which are designed the test the entrepreneur's characters and showcase their business skills.

The contenders will need to prove they possess the raw ingredients required to succeed: determination, dedication, passion, and talent.

Future Food Star will be coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in spring 2022.
