Fans of EastEnders were left stunned tonight when a character came back from the dead.
Jean Slater, played by Gillian Wright, was devastated to find out Daniel Cook, played by Ade Edmondson, had died.
The pair had bonded in the BBC soap over their cancer treatments, but when Daniel received the news his cancer had returned and it was terminal, Jean promised to take care of him.
Jean got a call from his neighbour in last night's episode to tell her he had passed away.
But, viewers were shocked to find Daniel attend his own memorial. Admitting he had fallen for Jean, he said: "Problem is, she has fallen for me too.
"I just want to disappear before she falls properly in love, save her the misery of having to watch me waste away in some hospice. What's the point in that?
"This way she might remember me as some wildly charismatic heartthrob who burned brightly in her life for just a moment and changed it forever."
Confused fans took to Twitter, one, @MissCarineyB said: "What is Daniel playing at? Not Dead!!!"
Another, @primmacoffee said: "Omg Daniel not dead !! Wtf he playing at?"
A third, @ali_paver said: "Oh my god Daniel isn’t dead hahahaha!!!!!!"
A fourth @JudithW59· added: "Thought it was odd how he died so suddenly.."
