BBC EastEnders fans say 'OMG' as they spot flashforward 'clue' after cliffhanger and Sharon 'doesn't get married'

EastEnders fans let out a gasp and said 'OMG' as they spotted a nod to the epic cliffhanger during the latest episode. The BBC One soap returned to screens on Tuesday night (February 21) after viewers were left with many questions following the first trip to Walford of the week the previous evening.

In an EastEnders first, Monday night's episode (February 20) ended with a lock-in at the Queen Vic for six iconic female characters, Linda Carter, Denise Fox, Kathy Beale, Sharon Watts, Stacey Slater and Suki Kaur, before the scene suddenly flashforwarded to Christmas 2023.

Viewers were stunned to see Sharon wearing a wedding dress which had been splattered with blood, leaning over a dead body and confirming "he's dead", while Stacey, who has found herself in a similar situation in the Albert Square boozer before, stood with blood-stained hands alongside Denise who held a broken champagne bottle.

Fans are now facing a 10-month wait to find out who will end up dead - and how they came to the end of their life with the strong Walford women watching on. This meant that Tuesday night's trip to the Square was back to somewhat normal with the women waking up throughout the pub after their heavy night.

However, there was a moment that caught eagle-eyed EastEnders viewers' eyes and think it's a nod to what's to come - and that Sharon may not have actually been getting married in the flashforward scene afterall.

During the episode, Eve found Stacey at the Vic following the booze-filled lock-in. Eve told Stacey that two large boxes had arrived at the house, and when the pair went home to open them, they found huge amounts of "bent bridal gear" that Stacey's nan had sent her.

As they riffled through the boxes, Eve was seen lifting and holding a white bridal gown that looks eerily similar to the one Sharon was wearing in the Christmas flash-forward. And it caused a shock among fans.

@sharonsstacey tweeted: "Eve is definitely holding Sharon’s wedding dress from the flash forward omg #EastEnders." @geordiejoolz asked: "Was that Sharon's wedding dress Eve just held up there?? Going to spend from now until Xmas looking for clues lol #EastEnders."

@SukeveForever shared: "Wonder if Eve's imagining Suki in a dress like that on their future wedding day? Also it looks suspiciously like the dress Sharon was wearing in the flash forward... #EastEnders #Sukeve." @SarahC1305 added: "Ooh maybe Sharon isn’t getting married. Maybe Stacey’s wedding dress selling business takes off and Sharon is a model. I’m going to have a theory every episode now so stay tuned! #EastEnders."

And while fans have been left guessing, the actresses who were a part of the scenes don't even know what's happened. While appearing on This Morning on Tuesday, soap star Kellie Bright, who plays Linda, admitted she and the rest of the cast are just as clueless as EastEnders fans as she revealed she has 'no idea' about the plot.

"When we filmed that flashforward, we weren't told very much at all. One of the things that you can't really see on that clip though is that I had a split lip. I don't know why and I don't know how," Kellie revealed.

Holly then quizzed: "So they genuinely haven't told you anything either?," to which Kellie replied: "No." Phil also probed: "But somebody is dead on the floor, was it a stunt actor?." Kellie then responded: "We had stand-in, a body double if you like."
