BBC EastEnders fans distracted by the same thing as Patsy Kensit makes soap debut as Lola's mum

EastEnders fans were left so blown away they were left ditracted by Patsy Kensit's arrival to the Square. The actress made highly-anticipated debut in the BBC One soap on Wednesday night (January 25) after it was announced in December that she'd be playing the 'never before seen' mother of Lola Pearce.

Patsy's 'short stint' in EastEnders started when Emma Harding, who abandoned Lola when she was a child, arrived in Walford as her daughter prepared to tie the knot with her boyfriend Jay Brown. The bride-to-be has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour last year and realising they had no time to waste, Jay popped the question so he could marry the love of his life.

Lola’s grandad Billy was able to track down Emma at work and, after telling her who he is, he told her that her daughter is getting married today and asked her to come to the wedding. But Emma refused, telling Billy that Loa's "better off without me" before scurrying off.

But it almost didn't matter in the end as Lola called off her wedding after a scary hospital dash. After getting ready for the big day and having slipped into her wedding dress, maid-of-honour Kim Fox noticed her nose in bleeding, causing Lola to panic. "The tumour must be growing, it must be the end this is it," the mum-of-one feared.

Kim then accompanied Lola on a mad dash to the hospital where doctors confirmed that there had been "no sign of rapid advancement" of her brain tumour. However, as Lola came to terms with her diagnosis, she revealed she couldn't marry Jay.

Meanwhile, EastEnders fans couldn't help but be distracted by Patsy's arrival into the soap. Fans will probably recognise the 54-year-old for her roles as Sadie King in Emmerdale and as nurse Faye Morton in Holby City to name just a few. But it was her ageless appearance that got viewers flocking to social media.

@demelcy tweeted: "Patsy Kensit looking ten years younger than she did in Holby City! #eastenders." @AdoreBobbyBeale wrote: "Patsy kensit looks absolutely incredible #EastEnders." @RyanTheSoapking said: "Patsy Kensit looks stunning #EastEnders." @mishybabez_ added: "I have missed the iconic Patsy Kensit in soaps so much#EastEnders."
