BBC EastEnders fans 'crying' as late star makes unexpected 'return'

EastEnders fans were left feeling emotional last night after a late star made a 'return'.

Phil Mitchell is currently facing a dilemma in the BBC One soap.

The Walford stalwart has been evading the police for years but they've finally got a hold of him.

Phil has been offered a deal by the police which if he accepts, will see him being an informant for the police instead of being locked up.

If he refuses, he faces spending the rest of his life behind bars.

The latest episode of the BBC soap on Tuesday night saw his ex Sharon Watts trying to get Phil to see sense in his relationship with Kat Slater.

But after being pushed, the soap hardman confessed to the decision he is facing.

Later in the episode, he was seen sat in the middle of the Square contemplating what to do.

As Phil, played by Steve McFadden, looked up at the Queen Vic pub as he heard his mother's voice.

"Phil, you gotta get out there and defend what's yours," Peggy was heard saying, in a clip from an old episode.

Phil's brother Grant, played by Ross Kemp, was also heard saying: "Then you should have come to me, at least I would have kicked some sense into ya and made you feel a bit better."

Peggy then added: "You're surrounded by people who love you, just try to love yourself..."

And hearing Peggy, played by the late Barbara Windsor, got fans all emotional.
