Dragons’ Den makes its long-awaited return on Thursday, January 5 and once again, entrepreneurs are hoping to secure investments from the series’ five wealthy investors. In 2023, the series celebrates its 20th year and it doesn’t show any signs of going anywhere having shifted from BBC Two to BBC Two last year.
Over the years, there have not only been many entrepreneurs to enter the Den but also, many Dragons. The series has seen numerous wealthy business owners offer financial support to up and coming entrepreneurs.
But out of this year’s line up, who is the wealthiest? Here’s everything you need to know.
Who is the wealthiest Dragon on the current series of Dragons’ Den?
The title of richest Dragon goes to Peter Jones, 56, who has been on the show since it began in 2005. He runs the investment group PJI and is worth a staggering £1.157 billion.
Then it’s fashionista Touker Suleyman, 69, with a net worth of £200 million. He is the owner of fashion brands Hawes & Curtis, Ghost and Low Profile Holdings and has over 40 years experience in retail and manufacturing.
Business owner and podcaster Steven Bartlett, 30, comes next with a net worth of £68 million. In 2014, Bartlett co-founded a social media marketing company called Social Chain. The company went public in 2019 and was originally listed on XETRA and the Düsseldorf Stock Exchange. In 2020, Bartlett exited the company.
63-year-old Deborah Meaden is next richest, with her net worth being £50 million. She currently owns luxury goods retailer The Merchant Fox.
Last and by no means least is Sara Davies, 38, is the founder and owner of Crafter’s Companion, a crafters supply company she started at university in 2005. She is worth £38 million.
