The BBC has explained why It cut East Midlands Today from locals screens last night. The news programme, which airs multiple times a day, had its evening programme cut on Thursday, July 6.
Now, bosses of the TV provider have explained why. In a tweet, Stuart Thomas, the BBC's head of the Midlands, stated that the programme had been taken off air as tennis from Wimbledon would continue to be broadcast on BBC One until late.
But he reassured viewers that they could still get their news fix through iPlayer - the BBC's catch up and streaming on demand service. The tweet said: "Tennis will stay on @BBCOne until very late - so there will be no regional news tonight.
"Don’t forget you can still watch all today’s stories from across the Midlands on @BBCiPlayer."
