Former Nottinghamshire MP Anna Soubry was narrowly beaten by a former Olympian on Celebrity Mastermind.
Appearing on the BBC One show on Saturday, February 25, the former Broxtowe MP, who served as a minister under David Cameron, finished with a total of 19 points.
Ms Soubry, who lost her seat as an MP in 2019 after defecting to Change UK, finished level with retired sprinter Roger Black, but he had one less pass.
Playing for the charity Doctors in Distress, she said appearing on the show, hosted by Clive Myrie, was the "scariest thing I've ever done".
Ms Soubry chose sitcom Fawlty Towers as her specialist subject and earned a respectable nine points, one behind Mr Black who chose classic film the Princess Bride.
Also appearing on the show were Radio 1 DJ Snoochie Shy and Emmerdale actress Natalie Anderson, who scored five and six respectively.
Ms Soubry went on a surging run in the general knowledge round, getting 10 correct answers.
It looked as though she would win the money for her charity as Mr Black struggled towards the end of his two minutes, however a last second correct answer ensured victory.
He had used one pass, whereas Ms Soubry had used two.
Reaction to the result was mixed on social media.
One Twitter user, Chris Yannaghas (@cyannaghas) said that she was "robbed".
Another said: "Anna seething".
David Walker expressed his support in a tweet, saying: "We were rooting for you, Anna! You did yourself proud."
So did @suehard, adding: "In these very dark days so lovely to see you on Celebrity Mastermind! Only beaten by a pass."
