BBC Celebrity MasterChef viewers taken aback by Mel Blatt's age

She rose to fam as one of the lead singers in the popular girl group All Saints. Now Melanie Blatt is taking on a new challenge in BBC show Celebrity MasterChef.

The singer is one of the latest contestants to take part in the latest series of the popular cooking show aiming to impress judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode.

Melanie Blatt, who competed in the second heat of this year's competition, secured her place in the semi-final of the hit BBC cooking competition on Friday, August 19, Birmingham Live reports.

But Celebrity MasterChef viewers were gobsmacked as they realised Mel Blatt's real age. The singer - who rose to fame in 1997 as a member of the girl group All Saints seriously impressed the judges with her dishes, including steak sandwiches. But viewers were more focused on her ageless looks than her cooking skills.

Mel is 47 years old and viewers took to Twitter to comment on how she had not aged since the 90s.

@FlopsyPickle said: "Mel needs to release a skin care like asap, because I need whatever it is she uses. She’s 47! I’d be happy looking like that now and I’m only 33. #masterchef #CelebrityMasterChef."

@amyd1987 echoed: "Mel Blatt looks absolutely INSANE for 47! Loving her! #celebritymasterchef @MasterChefUK."

And @pixielizards added: "How is it in the last 20 years #Melblatt has aged 5 years and I’ve aged 35 years? #celebritymasterchef."

Choir master Gareth Malone was dumped from the cooking competition on Friday night (August 18). He is best known for his television appearances in programmes such as The Choir, which focus on singing and introducing choral music to new participants.
