Star of the popular hit BBC drama Call The Midwife Helen George has hit back at negative comments she has received about filming while pregnant.

In November 2021, Helen gave birth to their second daughter, Lark, which meant the actress was pregnant while filming the latest series of Call The Midwife, while her character, Trixie, is not expecting a baby.

Some viewers and fans of the show have criticised Helen for working while pregnant.

Taking to Twitter Helen hit back at the comments saying that women's bodies change while pregnant and that is her choice to continue working and people should support her decision.

She said: "I've seen too many ridiculous comments about my pregnancy while filming @CallTheMidwife1 (also thank you for the lovely comments!) Women get pregnant, our bodies change. But we have the right to work if we choose to do so. How about just supporting it, and don't question it?"

Many viewers replied to her Tweet with supportive comments and agreeing that women have the choice to work while pregnant and should not be criticised for it.

One person said: "Should never be an issue, we love you in the show so just keep being you lovely lady"

Another added: "Those who choose not to support it are completely ignorant. You are an amazing actress and like you say, you have the right to carry on working whilst pregnant."

A third said: "You've done a great job while pregnant. Ignore the haters".

Call The Midwife continues on BBC One on Sunday, February, 6 at 8.00pm.
