BBC Breakfast viewers rushed to social media to comment after they were left convinced that Naga Munchetty let out a swear word live on air. The presenter was at the helm of the BBC One news programme on Friday (March 31) alongside Roger Johnson.
The pair were discussing the latest news headlines when they mentioned the news that Thomas Cashman has been found guilty of fatally shooting nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel as he chased a convicted drug dealer into her home in Liverpool last year.
As she introduced the upcoming segment on the verdict, Naga said: "Merseyside Police said it'll hunt down those who helped Thomas Cashman after he was convicted of the murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel."
But despite the serious nature of the topic, BBC Breakfast viewers couldn't help but share what they thought they heard in an unfortunate blunder on social media.
One viewer shared the clip on Twitter and said: "Pretty sure Naga just dropped the C-bomb in #BBCBreakfast." Another tweeted: "#BBCBreakfast Merseyside Police said they’ll do what?? #Naga." A third said: "That sounds as much of a C bomb. As you could get."
It came after the host was warned "how dare you" by Carol Kirkwood after taking a cheeky swipe while she presented the latest weather forecast. As Carol wrapped her weather report, she told viewers that Thursday (March 30) was the hottest day of the year so far and there was more good news.
"You'll be pleased to hear then on Sunday it will be dry with some sunshine for most of us," Carol said before she added: "I know you like the sun, Naga."
Taking a cheeky swipe at her co-star, Naga said: "Look at you bringing some good news for a change, Carol Kirkwood." But Carol didn't mind the TV banter as she quipped back: "How very dare you, Naga."
