BBC Breakfast shake-up as iconic weather presenter missing from regular morning slot

BBC Breakfast viewers were greeted by two rarely seen weather stars in a presenter shake-up.

Friday morning's meteorology segment was fronted by Sarah Keith-Lucas, who shared her forecast with those who tuned in for the show.

But regular viewers took to Twitter on seeing Sarah in the telly spot instead of iconic weather forecaster Carol Kirkwood or usual Friday presenter Matt Taylor.

One penned: "Looking lovely Sarah. Thanks for the weather report!"

As another Twitter user added: "Morning Sarah. Happy Friday!"

Sarah also penned her own post on Twitter adding: "Good morning. A quiet day weather-wise for most.

"You may be lucky enough to see a few glimpses of sunshine but there's generally a lot of cloud. I'll have more details on@BBCBreakfast."

And although the Weather segment had a switch up for January 27th, on the red sofa the faces of Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt provided more familiar faces for viewers.

But Charlie appeared to make a show blunder when handing over to Sarah as he stumbled on what day of the week it was.

The star said: "Five minutes past seven, S- It's Friday morning! Nearly said Saturday morning then, it's not. It's Friday morning."

Turning to Sarah, he reiterated: "Sarah, it's Friday morning, okay? How's the weather?"

Giggling, Sarah replied: "It is! It's Friday morning, nearly the weekend, isn't it? And actually the weather should be behaving itself for many of us today."

And although viewers were somewhat surprised to see Sarah on the slot — she's actually worked for the Beeb since 2008 and is best-known for presenting the five-day forecast on BBC's Countryfile.

She has been a regular BBC Breakfast weather presenter covering for former Strictly Star Carole Kirkwood since 2017.

Back then she impressed viewers as fans said she should be made permanent and even replace Kirkwood as the weekly go-to star.

A fan wrote on Twitter: “I wish Sarah Keith Lucas was Weather Presenter on Breakfast Permanently!”

Another addressed the presenter and praised her morning slot: "Wow babe!"

Sarah has been a stand in for BBC Breakfast's Carole Kirkwood for several years (BBC)

Meanwhile Carole, who often shares jolly chats with her co-stars during her segment, has been the main BBC Breakfast Weather presenter since 1997.

The Scottish-born star presents her morning reports from London and links in with her co-stars in MediaCity Salford since the BBC moved the operations to Manchester in 2013.

BBC Breakfast continues weekdays at 6am on BBC One
