BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty has perfect response to troll after cruel insult

BBC Breakfast 's Naga Munchetty has delivered the perfect reply to one of her latest critics on social media.

The broadcaster, 47, is often subjected to nasty comments and trolling online, but is known for standing up for herself when sent unsolicited opinions regarding her career.

On Friday, the BBC presenter hit back at one Twitter users negative review of her work with good grace and humour - leaving her fans claiming TV would be better with 'more like Naga' on our screens.

"Only me who thinks Naga Munchetty is a bit of a w***er?" a cruel tweet shared by one Twitter user on Friday morning reads.

Quote-tweeting the scathing insult to her 273,600 followers, Naga sarcastically replied: "Doubt it."

Her fans were quick to jump to her defence and praise her presenting skills.

"TV would be better for more Naga's - yes opinionated - yes not always everyone's favourite.. but smart, funny and has a personality and lets that shine through.. " one of the star's followers replied. "I'll take more Naga style presenters every day of the week thanks..."

"I happen to think she’s bloody brilliant," another disagreed with the original poster, with a third adding: "Naga is one of my favourites so he must be the only one."

One of Naga's fans recalled a sweet memory involving their father in their reply, writing: "My dad - no longer with us - thought you were the bees knees. He loved to watch you in the mornings. Whenever we were visiting each other, we'd watch until the program finished."

Naga previously opened up about the abuse she routinely receives online and how she handles harsh feedback.

The star thinks people who send her 'racist and sexist' stuff are 'idiots' (BBC)

"I’m on telly, I’m in your home, so if you want to criticise me, fine. But I’m not there to be abused. Nobody is there to be abused," she told the Mirror in 2016.

"You don’t abuse someone while they’re doing their job, and you don’t make racist, sexist or bigoted comments.

"If someone says, 'She did a bad job of that interview, I’ve come away and not understood anything', I would go back and re-examine that interview.

"Racist and sexist stuff, I just think, 'You’re an idiot.'"

"I’m not going to go home going, ‘I’m so upset someone’s called me a racist word’, or said I’m a woman, I can’t do a job. They’re idiots. You can’t waste your energy on idiots."

The new BBC Breakfast team has been confirmed (BBC)

Naga's priceless comeback to her latest critic comes as it's announced who will be replacing her former colleague Dan Walker on BBC Breakfast, following the Strictly star's move to Channel 5 earlier this year.

The BBC confirmed on Friday morning Jon Kay will sit alongside Sally Nugent on the famous red sofa each weekday and permanently filling the seat left empty by Dan in May.

The news of Jon's appointment being announced came at the same time it was confirmed Victoria Derbyshire will become become joint lead presenter on Newsnight in September.

Dan took to Twitter to wish his successor well in his former role - with Jon telling the Channel 5 star he had "set a very high bar".
