BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt 'snubs' co-host Nina Warhurst after awkward on-air discussion

Charlie Stayt appeared to 'snub' his BBC Breakfast co-host Nina Warhurst, as viewers claimed to have noticed some tension between them during rather awkward discussion on Friday's show.

With usual presenting partnership Jon Kay and Sally Nugent both absent, Charlie and NIna had a chance to front the popular morning programme for another day and one of the big talking points that was raised on-air was a report on life expectancy and how the amount of sleep a person gets a night and how easily they drift off could have a significant impact.

The tips offered in the article for people to 'boost' their life expectancy, including having at least seven hours of sleep a night,, feeling well rested at least five times a week and not to take any sleep medication.

After reading those out on-air, Nina then quipped: "I do not tick any of those boxes so my life expectancy is about the next three years," before asking Charlie if he ticked any of the boxes. However, rather than take a light hearted approach, Charlie seemed quite stern as he took exception with the advice on sleep medication, saying: "not talking medication is not a choice if you're on medication."

Informing BBC co-star Nina that he got "seven to eight hours" he then pressed her on the other two tips, with looking confused and responding: "oh I thought you meant..." before adding: "You have to fall asleep easily and feel well rested when you wake."

Charlie told her: "Well yes, I do then really," as Nina, in turn told him: "Well you're going to live a lot longer than I am."

Again taking a serious tone, Charlie looked into the camera and remarked "Well I'm not sure that's true really," adding: "I don't think we need to go there do we?"

Sensing Charlie seemed unimpressed, Nina conceded: "Let's move on," before Charlie got the last word in on the matter, adding: "Let's hope we both live a long time." But as Nina replied: "Deal" and extended her hand out for him to shake, Charlie turned away from her and carried on with the show.
