BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt presents alone as Naga Munchetty leaves sofa mid-show

Charlie Stayt was forced to present BBC Breakfast alone on Friday, November 18. The host started the show alongside his co-star Naga Munchetty but was forced to explain her absence less than thirty minutes into the episode.

Naga appeared to be struggling with her voice as the pair introduced the show, with the fact not going unnoticed by BBC Breakfast viewers. "Somebody give Naga a Strepsil," wrote one fan, while another added: "Oooh Naga you poor thing. Hope your lovely voice recovers soon."

Shortly after Charlie was seen on the sofa alone and addressed Naga's absence with viewers. He said: "You may have noticed this morning, Naga has just stepped away from the sofa for a minute with a slight struggle with her voice."

Unsure whether Naga would be returning, he added: "We'll see how that works out, time now is 6.20am." According to My London, the decision for Naga to leave must have been a last-minute one as reporters speaking to Charlie throughout the show continued to wish a good morning to Naga despite her not being there.

As well as presenting on his own, Charlie was also forced to deal with a live link from Doha going down mid-interview. Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "@BBCBreakfast keep on going Charlie! Clearly a testing morning with Naga losing her voice and the loss of audio in Doha! Oh the joys of live broadcasting." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
