BBC Breakfast presenter slams viewer's 'you look a mess' tweet with epic response

The BBC Breakfast sofa may be the place for soft news and feature stories. But one presenter has been trolled in the harshest way possible.

Luckily, Nina Warhurst brushed off the social media assault on her this morning (Wednesday, April 5) like it was no big thing. She answered a harsh critic with an admirable feminist reaction and has been applauded for it.

The 42-year-old journalist, who comes from Sale in Greater Manchester, has been a favourite on the BBC Breakfast sofa in the last few months. But one viewer was not only displeased by Nina's appearance, she was angry enough to go public with her vitriol.

The vile critic took to Twitter and said: "Please do something with your hair. You look a mess! We have to look at you while we are eating our breakfasts, for heavens sake!"

Nina announced that she is pregnant on Mother's Day. On this morning's show, she was dressed in a pretty polka dot dress with her hair shaped into a neat bob.

On Twitter, she answered her critic and said: "Women who do this to women [sad face emoji]. Too repulsed by my hair to eat her breakfast, but managing to bang out this vitriol [spiral eyes emoji].

"Apart from anything else I can’t bear inaccuracies - I think we can all agree my hair looked [heart hands emoji]."

The BBC team was there to back her up, with Naga Munchetty insisting: "It looked fab x."

A fellow viewer replied and supported Nina, writing: "I was just thinking how fab your hair was this morning....and how fab u r looking in general. As well as being a totally naturally gifted broadcaster."

Yet another fan reassured Nina, writing: "I agree, your hair looks gorgeous. I also love the red lipstick and polka dots. 10/10."

Nina - along with co-presenter Jon Kay - is on the red sofa this week as colleague Sally Nugent has some annual leave.
