BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty reveals scary moment she was admitted to hospital

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty shared her grim experience of a scary hospital dash with viewers on Saturday.

The presenter warned that viewers "with a sensitive nature may not enjoy this story" as she was joined by her co-host Charlie Stayt on the BBC show.

Naga was asked if it was a "look away moment" as she told a story about a woman who reportedly had 23 disposable contact lenses stuck in her eye, similar to her own experience.

Before going further into the story, she said “Well, you say look away now, that’s quite an apt thing to say," the Mirror reports.

Naga remarked: "I sympathise with this woman because this has happened to me, not to the same extent.

"I wear contact lenses and they can sometimes get lost in the eye.

“Very, very rarely but sometimes it does and it can be very painful. I’ve had one lost in my eye, a woman has had 23 disposable contact lenses removed from her eye.

“The woman was in her 70s and was avoiding visits - this is a lesson to see your doctor if you’ve got a problem, right?

“She’d been avoiding visits with her eyes doctor because she feared being infected with Covid.

“But then she’s told this story that she went in and she felt something foreign in her right eye.

"She managed to find a few of them, get them from her eye, and then spotted more of them.

“She then had her assistant record the removal, she filmed it on her phone."

Opening up about how she had a similar - but slightly less dramatic - experience, she said: "I’ve ended up in an eye hospital trying to get it out!

"Mine went into the back and it is so painful because you can feel it scratching, but can you imagine 23?"
