BBC Breakfast host forced to halt show to 'check on co-star's safety' live on air

BBC Breakfast was thrown into chaos on Thursday morning as television host Naga Munchetty had to put a halt to the programme to check on the safety of her co-star during a live interview.

The 48-year-old presenter was joined by her co-host Charlie Stayt as they updated viewers across the country with the latest headlines in the news, one of which was new statistics which revealed more than 490 million pints of milk are wasted each year.

Marks & Spencer became retail chain to join Morrisons in ditching the 'use by' dates on their own brand milk in place of best before dates to encourage buyers to smell and taste the product before throwing it away.

To get an expert opinion on the story, the presenting duo welcomed dairy farmer Ceri Cryer onto the show where she shared her tips and tricks for making milk last longer when kept in the fridge.

But Naga had to halt the interview on-air the Daily Star reports, as she checked in on the guest’s safety as she reported live from her farm surrounded by dairy cows.

She asked: “Ceri are you safe around those cows? I can see you being nudged around by them. I’m just checking on your safety.”

The farmer explained: “We just gave them a little bit of cake to come visit us, then on just pooped right next to me so, I'm clean.”

“Joyful," the broadcaster simply replied, as she had a laugh at her misfortune on air.

BBC Breakfast airs everyday from 6am on BBC One.
