A digital glitch on BBC Breakfast this morning saw the presenting team go back in time to use an old-fashioned analogue clock
The early morning show kicked off at 6am without the time display viewers are used to seeing ticking away in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
As presenter Naga Munchetty explained, the network was having technical difficulties that had led to the disappearance of the time graphic.
“It is 12 minutes past six but you perhaps if you’re watching and relying on us to see the clock it would normally be there wouldn’t it?” Ms Munchetty said as she pointed to the right hand corner of the television screen.
“We’ve had a few technical problems this morning so we haven’t got a clock yet,” she continued. “They are working on it and trying to batter the technical gremlins and get the clock back.”
A short time later, at around 6.20am, reporter Ben Thompson stepped in and placed an analogue clock on the desk.
“I’ve fixed your clock problem,” he said. “Because I know a lot of people this morning are only watching us for the clock, good morning, because you need to get ready for work and school, so I’ll just leave that there.”
Co presenter Charlie Stayt added: “If you could just stay there with your hand for the next two hours forty-five?
