BBC Breakfast acts after glitch causes 'chaos' for viewers

The tech team at BBC Breakfast was called into action after viewers noticed a key part of the morning show was nowhere to be seen. People waking up to the latest news were flummoxed as the digital clock was missing from the screen on Tuesday.

Jon Kay and Nina Warhurst were presenting the first show following the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday. And those watching first thing over their coffee and toast were quick to notice the technical glitch, the DailyStar reports.

One person asked: "What happened to the clock?" Another said: "Where’s the little clock??? #BBCBreakfast."

Seeing the abundance of questions surrounding the clock on social media, presenters Jon and Nina addressed the issue later in the show.

"Our clock is broken. It's disappeared! Our on screen clock has disappeared," the newsreader explained before adding: "It's causing chaos for lots of you this morning. You've been in touch saying you don't know what to do. You don't know what the time is!"

The 52-year-old wanted to make sure viewers knew the time despite the digital mishap as he picked up his phone and said: "So if you haven't got a clock in the house, or a phone, the time is 6:26."

"Well done Jon," chimed Nina.

"I'll just keep this here all morning. I'll keep reminding you, the talking clock," the presenter said as Nina added: "Yeah apologies for that, we are trying to get the clock back."

A few minutes later Jon excitedly said: "Good morning! We've got the clock," before confirming: "Oh no we haven't got the clock back."

The duo then let out a small squeal as Nina exclaimed: "Oh there she is!," as Jon joked: "Okay calm down, we're back to normal.".
