BBC bosses have made an exciting announcement that is sure to delight Death in Paradise fans. The spin-off series Beyond Paradise, which is currently airing on Friday nights, will see DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) make a surprise visit to the sun-soaked island of Saint Marie, where Death in Paradise is set, in the emotional series finale.
In a teaser clip and image released ahead of the dramatic final episode, the Paradise worlds collide in a cross-over Death in Paradise fans will adore. On his return to the island, Kris says: "I was honoured and delighted to return to Guadeloupe as part of Humphrey’s journey in Beyond Paradise, and to rekindle my deep passion for the island."
In the final episode of Beyond Paradise, the Shipton Abbott police team are faced with a seemingly impossible case to crack. A burglary seems clear-cut at first when the thief’s unusual calling card matches that of local criminal Atticus Styles (Spencer Jones), but when the forensic evidence comes back, it all points to another suspect.

The only problem is the suspect, Hayley Collins (Hannah Traylen), was locked up in a police cell by PC Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn) at the time of the crime. DI Humphrey was originally the lead detective in the BBC One series Death in Paradise and Kris Marshall played the role from 2014 to 2017. It was from DI Humphrey's character in Death in Paradise that Beyond Paradise was created. Beyond Paradise is a spin-off following DI Humphrey as he returns to the UK with his love interest Martha Lloyd, who is played by Sally Bretton.
In Beyond Paradise Martha and Humphrey are facing relationship issues as Martha opens up a cafe and Humphrey returns to policing in the UK. The final of Beyond Paradise will air at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday, April 7.
