BBC Bargain Hunt to visit Bristol auction rooms this week

Antique fanatics may be in with a chance of appearing on TV this week, as Bargain Hunt is coming to Bristol. The daytime BBC show, which has been on our airwaves for more than 23 years, will be filming at East Bristol Auctions in Hanham, as amateur antique dealers take their hauls to auction.

For those unfamiliar with the premise of Bargain Hunt, two teams - often composed of couples, relatives, friends or colleagues - are let loose around an antiques centre or fair as they are tasked with picking up items they think could do well at auction, with the help of designated antique experts. But things can be challenging, as the Red and Blue teams are given £300 and just an hour on the clock to net a haul of three items.

Once the time has run out, the Red and Blue teams' buys are valuated by an auctioneer, who then tries to flog them to the public, as contestants eagerly await the results. Whichever team makes the most, or loses the least, amount of money, wins.

East Bristol Auctions' "Selected Antiques & Collectables Auction" will be filmed by BBC crews on Wednesday (May 17), with the scenes set to feature in the next series of Bargain Hunt. Presenter Charlie Ross and two experts (and their teams) will be in attendance, hoping to make a profit at auction.

The sale is open for in-person bidding, as well as online. Viewing opens at 9am and the sale begins at 10am.
