BBC Bargain Hunt buyer's 'cheeky' offer immediately shut down moments into search

A Bargain Hunt buyer's "cheeky" request was shut down moments into today's show.

Wednesday's edition of the popular BBC programme was hosted by Natasha Raskin Sharp and took place at an antiques fair in Builth Wells. Two teams of buyers had 60 minutes and a budget of £300 to buy three items to take to auction.

Natasha challenged the buyers to buy an item that was horse related and another item needed to cost at least £75. The red team consisted of sisters Lisa and Christa and were joined by expert Ben Cooper.

Christa's eyes were immediately drawn towards a dog whistle, which Ben swooned over. He said: "It's just got nice detailing when you look closely how it's cast."

The product was priced at £65 and Lisa immediately decided to put a bid in as she said: "We like it, but we'd like it even better if it was a lower price. I'm gonna be really cheeky now and I'm gonna come in at £30."

However, the seller immediately shut down the bid. She said: "No I couldn't do it for £30. £50 would be best for me?"

Lisa shot back: "How about 49?" The two came to a deal and the sisters secured the first item they saw on the bargain hunt.

The sisters eventually sold the dog whistle for £35 at auction so it made a £14 loss. The team ended up making a total loss of £123 at the auction.
