BBC consumer show X-Ray is set to be axed after 22 years. Its presenter Lucy Owen said that the decision has left her "very sad". The programme, which sought justice for consumers, was first aired in 2001 and has been presented by journalist Owen since 2007. According to BBC Wales, the decision comes as growth in its online services meant "tough editorial and financial decisions" were needed in order to grow its digital content.
X-Ray will finish once the latest series comes to an end, with the last episode set to air on BBC One Wales on Monday, March 27 and will be repeated two days later. In response to the axe, Lucy took to Twitter to express her views. On Wednesday, she tweeted: "I'm very sad but will always be enormously proud of the work we've done getting your money back, exposing rogues and bringing criminals to justice, all thanks to every dedicated and committed member of the team over our 22 years. Thank you [BBC X-Ray]".

Many took to social media to respond to the news. In response to Lucy's tweet, some described it as "sad news", while others expressed their gratitude for receiving help from the show many years ago. Another said that they had learnt a lot about consumer rights thanks to the show.
A BBC Wales spokesman said: "We are very proud of the work X-Ray has done the years on behalf of audiences, and will ensure that its legacy, strong consumer journalism, lives on in our BBC Wales news coverage. We will continue to throw a spotlight on the sort of issues that were raised by the programme."
