An Antiques Roadshow expert was left stunned tonight as a guest explained she'd found three plates in her attic that turned out to be worth thousands.
The show participant brought the plates to expert John Sandon and said she'd found them in the attic when they were moving house.
But she revealed that she had no idea what they were or how much they were worth.
John said: "If you'd have bought me one of these little dishes I would have been excited, but to have brought me three, it's extraordinary."
John explained that the plates would have been used for little cakes and delicacies and that they would have been passed around a room by people using their little handle on the side.
He said the plates had been made by the Worcester factory for the Earl of Coventry in 1760 and it was known as the Blind Earl pattern, after the Earl who had lost his sight in a hunting accident.

He said: "The Worcester factory made all kinds of tea sets and dinner sets and the Blind Earl pattern became one of their specialities.
"Normally you get one of these with a tea set or once many years ago I did see a set of four, so we know they were made in sets, but since then I've never seen three or more together, there wasn't one more in the attic was there? You didn't miss one?"
The guest replied that she definitely hadn't, sadly.

John said there was some rubbing on the plates that would "knock a few quid off them" but that they would be worth £2,500.
The guest looked stunned and replied: "Blimey"
And he said: "Worth going into the attic for those, thanks for bringing them in."
