Manchester United could see a potential move for Erik ten Hag target Jurrien Timber ruined with Bayern Munich seemingly considering entering the race for his services.
The Dutchman was regularly linked with following his former boss to Old Trafford in the summer. In the end, a move did not come to fruition, with Ajax refusing to sell after letting Antony and Lisandro Martinez move to Old Trafford.
That has not stopped rumours of a move in the near future though. Recent reports have suggested that the Red Devils are still considering signing Timber this summer as they aim to reinforce their defence further.
Things might be complicated by competition for the youngster’s services however. As per German outlet Sport1, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are eyeing a swoop for his services should Benjamin Pavard not put pen to paper on a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.
The 26-year-old Frenchman has just over a year remaining on his current contract and might be sold in order for Bayern to receive a fee rather than losing him for free. Pavard has ironically been linked with Man United in the past and a sale could trigger a move for Timber.
As it stands, the German side’s preference is for the former Stuttgart man to sign a new deal but they could be forced to make a move for Timber should little progress be made sooner rather than later. Interestingly, the young Dutchman has hinted that he could potentially move on from Amsterdam and seek pastures new.

As quoted by Ajax Life, he said: “Transfer? You never know what crosses your path. This summer I will look at my options and make a decision”.
“I feel good at Ajax, that's important for now. Last summer there was interest, but I chose to stay at Ajax.”
Timber, 21, began his career with Ajax and has gone on to accumulate 110 appearances for the Dutch giants since making his debut in the 2019/20 season. Whilst he could potentially be on his way to Bavaria, one of his compatriots and former teammates could ironically be bidding farewell.
Ryan Gravenberch only signed for Bayern last summer but following a tricky first season, has been linked with making a move away from the club. Liverpool have been credited with an interest, with former Reds defender Jose Enrique hinting that a deal is all-but done.
Talking on a livestream, the Spaniard was asked about Gravenberch and replied: “This player is ours, amigo… He said ‘yeah’.”
He then explained that the pair share representatives and suggested that talks had already taken place. “It’s the same agent as me, team Raiola,” Enrique added. “We had a meeting not long ago in London, this is our player.”
