Manchester United's 2-0 victory over Everton did nothing to distract from the fact that the Reds need a striker.
All season, even before Cristiano Ronaldo's exit, United have been struggling for goals. Not for the first time, Erik ten Hag's team had plenty of shots (29 to be exact) but were wasteful in finishing.
Beyond Marcus Rashford, the Reds have not had a regular goalscorer that could transform their top four battle into a title challenge. This is why MEN Sport understands that Ten Hag has made a centre forward his number one priority in the summer.

Harry Kane has been named as the dream player that the Dutchman wants to improve his side and it is hard to argue against prioritising him. The Spurs captain is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League and has managed to do so in a team infamous for their struggles.
However, Bayern Munich's chief financial officer Dr Michael Diederich highlighted an issue with pursuing Kane that the Reds need to be aware of. When asked about the German club's interest in the Englishman, he replied: "I don’t rule anything out but can we afford such a transfer and do we want such a transfer?
"We have to keep an eye on our profitability." While United know all about his strengths, they will also be fully aware that Kane could come at a hefty price.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has previously been adamant that he will stay in North London. Even with his contract running out in 2024, Kane may still be prevented from leaving unless the price is particularly right for Tottenham.
At some stage in the process, United will need to be willing to pull out if the price gets too steep. Compared to Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Osimhen, Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos, Kane is on the ageing side and his value will only decrease during his time at the club.
Like Diederich states, the Reds will need to keep an eye on profitability to ensure they don't fall into old bad habits in pre-season window.
