Bayern Munich 'considering move' for Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan and more transfer rumours

Bayern Munich are considering a move for Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan next summer, according to reports.

Gundogan has enjoyed a fine 2022 for City with his brace against Aston Villa on the final day of last season clinching the Blues' sixth Premier League title and he was then voted to be the club's new captain by his teammates following the departure of Fernandinho. The German has been buoyed by the armband and has had a fine start to the new season, too.

However, it could only be a swift stint as skipper because Gundogan is now into the last year of his contract, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2023. Though City would likely want the midfielder to commit his future to the club, an extension is by no means a guarantee.

Gundogan was coy about signing a new contract ahead of his last one in 2019 and there was speculation this past summer that he could leave the club. The 32-year-old remained at the Etihad but when asked about his future in August he hardly resolved any doubts about his future: "We will see. Right now it's really just about focusing on the new season..." he replied when asked if he might extend his stay in Manchester.

Now it appears that Gundogan has at least one suitor to give him a difficult decision to make next year. 90min report that Bayern are 'tempted' to offer him a route back to his homeland seven years on from leaving Borussia Dortmund.

It's added that no decision will be made before this winter's World Cup but that a move to Bayern 'would appeal to Gundogan', with the Bundesliga champions making it known they want to be 'kept appraised of his situation.'

Meanwhile, City have reportedly sealed the signing of another promising youngster in teenager Emilio Lawrence.

Fabrizio Romano reports that City completed the signing after 'long negotiations,' with a deal signed and a medical completed. The Everton prodigy who plays in an attacking midfield role, got 6 goals and three assists at Under-18 level last season. Lawrence has represented England and Scotland at youth level.
