Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic has played down suggestions that the Germain giants want to sign Harry Kane.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to Bayern after Robert Lewandowski left the club to join Barcelona in the summer. According to Bild, the England international is on their transfer watchlist for 2023, too.
The German outlet claims Bayern sporting director Salihamidzic is keeping a close eye on Kane's contract situation. If he does not pen a new contract in North London, then the Bundesliga champions will make their move, with contact reportedly being made with Kane's brother Charlie.
Julian Nagelsman spoke about his admiration of Kane back in July, while CEO Oliver Khan said it would be a 'dream' for a player of his quality to join the German giants. However, Salihamidzic has revealed that Bayern are not forcing a move for the forward.
He said: "I don't think Oliver Kahn is forcing a move for Kane. You can all go down a gear. There's nothing to it."
Kane could be ready to sign a new Tottenham contract, however, now Antonio Conte is at the club with the striker set to commit his long-term future to the club. He has been tipped to make the switch to Manchester City in the past, but now they have signed Erling Haaland, it looks unlikely that they will need a striker anytime soon, leaving options better than Tottenham hard to come by.
Real Madrid could be looking for another forward next summer with Karim Benzema 34, while Bayern are the only other potential candidates given their lack of central strikers at the moment. However, Tottenham boss Conte has continued to reiterate that he wants to keep Kane at the club.
Conte revealed: "My opinion is only one of a million opinions [trying] to force the club, to tell the club 'sign a new contract for Harry Kane'. Because we are talking about a world-class striker and a player who in this moment is the most representative player for Tottenham, no?
"For sure I would like him to sign a new contract. In this moment, for me, it is very important to see him happy, totally involved with this season, this project and what we are doing. For me, this is the most important. Then it's a decision that the player and the club have to take."
